Legal blame & crime in human-robot-interaction

23. Juni 2023 | 18:00 - 20:00

Am Donnerstag, 23. Juni, fand die Abschlussveranstaltung des SNF-Projekts „Human-Robot Interaction: A Digital Shift in Law and its Narratives?“ fand im Druckwerk, Warteck in Basel statt.

„Our society is becoming increasingly digital with a growing number of human-robot-interaction. What does this mean for our ideas of right and wrong, of responsibility and liability before the law? And what does it mean for the associated narratives? When crimes and accidents occur, robots and AI-controlled systems that interact with humans may have to take some of the blame. In addition, this increasing human-robot interaction has the potential to change the field of evidence: Robots and AI-controlled systems could become new kinds of witnesses and potentially turn against their human partners. As part of the SNSF book project „Human-Robot Interaction: A Digital Shift in Law and its Narratives?“ the consequences of human-robot interaction in the law, with a strong focus on criminal law and criminal proceedings, were analyzed and illustrated in the form of cartoons by Bartosz Mamak.“
